One of the most popular activities for visitors is a bicycle ride around the perimeter of the island – approximately an 8-mile trip – with ever-changing views of Lake Huron and chances to visit various landmarks along the way including British Landing. Cyclists are treated to nice beaches along the way, perfect for picnics and great views of the Mackinac Bridge from the western side of the island.

You can bring your own bicycle to the island on the ferry for a transportation fee – currently (2021) $13 for Shepler’s Ferry and $12 for Star Line Ferry. There are also many bicycle rental services on the island where you can rent bikes by the hour, half day or full day.

NOTE: Electric Bikes are not permitted on Mackinac Island. (Electric Bikes Policy from Mackinac Island Police Department)

Mackinac Island Bicycle Rentals

Mackinac Bike Barn located across from Main Street Inn and Suites downtown – (906) 847-8026

Mackinac Wheels located next to Bay View Bed & Breakfast on the Marina – (906) 847- 8022

Mackinac Island Bike Rental located adjacent to the Shepler’s Ferry Dock 906-847-6337

Island House Bikes – Island House Bikes offers rentals for adult and children’s bikes, tandems, tag-alongs, strollers, trikes and more!
