Mackinac Island Turkey Trot – November 22, 2018

The 8th ANNUAL TURKEY TROT is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day!

This 5k event is not timed and you can run, walk, or bike your way from the corner of Main Street and Fort Street at 9:30 am to the finish at Mustang Lounge.

The entry fee is in the form of a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Mackinac County Food Bank.

Also, Star Line Ferry will transport off island folks wishing to participate for a donation of three non-perishable food items. Ferry will be leaving the mainland at 8:30 am and the island at 1:00 pm.

This annual Thanksgiving event is focused on fun and giving! It will be great to see you there!

Cawthorne’s Village Inn is featuring a special menu starting at 5:00pm. Reservations suggested. Drink specials all night long with a champagne toast at Midnight! Live music by Brian Thomas starting at 9:30pm.

Mustang Lounge is celebrating the New Year with a special menu featuring chicken marsala, seafood fettuccine Alfredo, broiled and Parmesan crusted whitefish, beef tenderloin, herb roasted chicken and surf n turf. Prices range from $18-$35. Reservations suggested. Dance the night away with DJ Brevin from 10pm-3am

Great Turtle Chili Cookoff – February 17 – 20, 2017

chili170101800Hit the cross-country ski trails surrounded by snow falling on cedars then make your way to the event of the winter.

The 23rd annual Mackinac Island Chili Cook-off is slated for Noon on February 18th at Cawthorne’s Village Inn.

Participants wishing to enter need to bring 5 gallons of their best chili to the event. There is no fee to enter, however to be a judge, adults are charged $10 dollars, children $5 with the proceeds benefiting the local American Legion Post. Judging will begin at noon and conclude at 4pm. Each judge will sample the various chili’s and place their votes.

Prizes will be awarded for all entrants, however the number one chili as voted by the judges will receive $300, second place $200 and 3rd place along with most unusual chili will receive a gift certificate.
