For gardening, begins in January, with the dream. - Josephine Nuese We agree 100% although we would amend the last sentence to include "and all the planning to make the dream a reality!" January may be slow for the actual planting of container gardens, but let me tell you, we are so busy planning! We are ordering gorgeous flowers and plants for the upcoming spring planting season and researching new varieties to surprise and delight our clients. Speaking of delights, we have been dreaming of going to the provenwinners Grand Garden Show at the grandhotelmichigan on Mackinac Island, Michigan for years and were planning to go this past summer. Sadly this bucket list item was postponed due to covid, but we are so excited for the day it will happen. We absolutely love garden tours and Mackinac Island in the summer looks dreamy. Has anyone been to the Grand Garden Show and is it fabulous? Do tell!

Sunrise over a new corner of a garden you might recognize from jackbarnwelldesign videos. I’m always interested to see what Jack does here because this corner is a real challenge. It’s planted along a sea wall where waves will crash over on occasion and in a very exposed area. This is coming right off an area that is protected and heavily planted with annuals so the other challenge is transitioning to a completing different situation in the same garden. 08.27.2013. No cars are allowed on Mackinac Island, located on Lake Huron between mainland Michigan and the "Yooper" Peninsula of Michigan. The island is about 8 miles around, and most people get around on bicycle or horse carriage. Men follow behind the carriages, walking with scoopers and bags to pick up after the horses to keep the streets clean. I happened to arrive on the island the last day of the yearly Grand Garden Show, where many of the homes around the island display their colorfully floral gardens for the people who travel to stay at the famous Grand Hotel where the show is hosted. DO TELL! Do you have a strong opinion when it comes to food and drinks made in Michigan ? If so, play along on this little game of This or That? I'll go first! Mackinac Island Fudge, paczki, and Detroit Style Pizza are no-brainers for me. I love them all and would hands down pick each one if forced to choose. The drink decision is a hard one for me though, as I don't really like either of the choices. Sorry. Growing up, Vernors was the only pop my Grandma had at her house, and she always insisted on pouring me a glass when we visited. However, I was not a fan of ginger ale and it would take me quite long to drink it, which did not get any better the longer it sat and the warmer it got. We always had Faygo in our house growing up, but flavors such as red pop, grape or rock & rye did nothing for me. Today, if a Faygo diet-cola was in the mix, that would be my choice. Shoutout to puremichigan from whom we "borrowed" this idea who played their game bracket-style in honor of March Madness. DO TELL! This or That?
