In honor of St. Patrick’s Day we would like to share the story of Stonecliffe’s Founder Michael Cudahy who emigrated to The United States from Ireland in 1849.
After working his way up the ladder in the Milwaukee meat packing industry from the age of 14, Cudahy was made a partner at Armour & Co. Michael Cudahy soon established the Cudahy Packing Company in South Omaha, Nebraska.
After expanding his fortune further into real estate Cudahy set his sights on Mackinac Island and became one of the largest landowners with his purchase of 150 acres. In 1904 construction was completed on his mansion which he named Stonecliffe. Cudahy and his wife Catharine had seven children, four boys and three girls. In 1970 Stonecliffe was converted into a First Class Resort Hotel which you know now as The Inn at Stonecliffe. 🍀

We were caught in a little blizzard on Main St. last night! ☃️ Downtown is hardly recognizable this time of year.

The kids are both at camp. Hopefully we don’t miss them too much while we watch the sunset overlooking the Mackinac Bridge 😉
