Mackinac Island Turtle Trek – A lantern-lit ski and snowshoeing trek through some of Mackinac Island’s natural winter wonderland.
The trail begins at Greany Grove (corner of Arch Rock Road and Huron Road) with a bonfire and hot chocolate. The trail is groomed, track set, lit by lanterns and approximately two miles long.

As the summer tourist season ends on Mackinac Island, many of the horses leave the island for winter pastures on the mainland in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The sight of the departing horses being led through the streets of downtown Mackinac Island is always bittersweet scene of late summer and early fall. Here are some of the latest photos.
