Every meal is an event.
Throughout the history of Grand Hotel, dining has been one of the brightest highlights of the guest experience, and every meal is truly special, thanks to exceptional food, service and ambiance. A number of dining options are available, from the legendary Main Dining Room—which overlooks the Straits of Mackinac and where a coat and tie for gentlemen and dress or pantsuit for ladies is required after 6:30 p.m.—to the more casual The Gate House, The Jockey Club at the Grand Stand and Carleton’s Tea Store. A full breakfast, Grand Luncheon Buffet and five-course dinner are included daily as part of the Full American Plan.
Main Dining Room
Few dining locales anywhere are more picturesque than Grand Hotel’s Main Dining Room. It overlooks the world’s longest porch and the hotel’s many American flags, as well as the glistening Straits of Mackinac. It is here that a full breakfast, the Grand Luncheon Buffet and five-course dinner—all included in the social guest room rate—are less like meals and more like special events, each a highlight of the Grand Hotel experience.

At Grand Hotel, breakfast includes a wide selection of entrees, including omelettes and made-to-order eggs, hot and cold cereals, pancakes and French toast with real Michigan maple syrup, hot oatmeal, breakfast meats and salmon, fresh breads and pastries, fresh juices, fruits and more. Dinner Five-course 6:30 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.
The Main Dining Room’s dinner menu is renowned for its range and excellence, with three menus rotating throughout the season. The five-course meal can include a variety of tastes to suit virtually every discerning palate. The well-stocked wine cellar offers abundant choices of domestic and imported vintages. Our sommelier will gladly suggest the right wine to accompany your meal.
Each evening following dinner, demitasse is served in the Parlor, accompanied by music from The Grand Hotel Orchestra.
A special children’s dinner program is also available each evening from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
As part of the Modified plan or the American plan guests can enjoy a more casual atmosphere at The Jockey Club at The Grand Stand. In addition at our other offsite restaurants, Woods or The Gate House guests receive a $20.00 per adult credit towards the food portion of your dinner bill.
