Star Spangled Fourth of July – Fort Mackinac – July 4, 2025

The historic island fort is decked out in patriotic finery with banners, flags and bunting. It is an 1880’s Independence Day, with 38-gun salutes honoring the states of the period and children’s games.

Guests join the party and participate in games on the fort parade ground. Don’t miss out on this all 1880s Independence Day as we have catch and baseball available on the parade ground to go along with foot races and sack races, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, the raising of the colors, the national salute (38 rifle blasts for the 38 states of the 1880s!), a cannon salute, and much more!

Games will be available on the parade ground beginning at 1:30 p.m. Special programming will take place at 2:00 p.m. The Tea Room Restaurant, operated by Grand Hotel, is open all day serving snacks, sweets, and beverages, and will have full lunch service from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All special programming is included with regular admission to Fort Mackinac. (always July 4)

Nathan Graham wsg/Mary Kenyon – Music In The Park – July 10, 2025

Nathan Graham - Music In The Park

Mixing South Side Blues with Nashville Americana!

Mackinac Arts Council welcomes Nathan Graham to Music in the park!

Born and raised in Chicago, Graham meshes South Side Blues with Nashville Americana, beginning his career backing blues singers at famous haunts like Buddy Guy’s Legends and Kingston Mines. He spent a decade as a guitar-for-hire before picking up a mic to tell his own stories on the stage.

Soulful and steady, Graham’s music offers a raw introspective of the human condition that’s both painful and comforting. His guitar conveys heartbreak, lyrics tell stories of regret, but his rich vocal delivery offers the remedy.

Having brought his songs on international tours with both major label and indie acts, Graham is challenging the notion of what it means to be a singer-songwriter. He’s driving inclusivity within the genre, and he hopes to evoke a sense of understanding in the process.

Mackinac’s own Mary Kenyon will open for Nathan Graham. See you in the park!

Luke Winslow-King Band – Music In The Park – July 31, 2025

Luke Winslow-King Band - Music In The Park

“Seamlessly melds delta blues, gospel, and jazz themes with personal, simplified lyrics that speak to his personal and artistic evolution.”– New York Times.

Luke Winslow-King, originally from Cadillac, Michigan, is a career rock & roll guitarist, singer, producer, songwriter. Having spent more than 15 years in New Orleans, and recording his 2008 album (Old/New Baby) at Preservation Hall, he was named ‘Best Blues Artist’ by Gambit Magazine. His 2018 hit, ‘I’m Glad Trouble Don’t Last Always’ is nearing 10 million streams on Spotify. He was named a voting member of the Grammy Recording Academy in 2022.

Now living in Calatayud, Spain, he continues to pursue his global quest; delivering honest, powerful, rustic, and authentic peoples’ music by stage and recording alike. His alchemical songs blend contemporary ideas with styles from bygone eras producing a sound that is rustic and urbane, elegant and entirely his own. In addition to cutting seven studio records in the last decade, Luke has toured extensively in North America and Europe, appearing on notable stages such as Austin City Limits, New Orleans JazzFest, Azkena Rock Festival (Spain), Tønder Festival Paradiso (Netherlands), Maverick Festival (UK), and countless more.

We are so happy to welcome him back to the Island for the Music in the Park. Free Admission

Ben Daniels Band – Music In The Park – August 7, 2025

Ben Daniels Band - Music In The Park

Ben Daniels Band – While in Arizona studying audio engineering, Ben Daniels decided to be a musician. A natural poet, he soon became a young songwriter schooled on Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, J.J. Cale, and John Prine, among others.

Since 2006, Ben has written songs that speak directly to the things we all see, recognize, and think. Years later, his lyrics have the authenticity of an artist.

Together since 2008, the Ben Daniels Band cuts through with an Americana sound from the Michigan ground. From their opening song to the finale of their set, their musicianship, experience, and originality make no two shows alike. And with the bluegrass roots of Tommy Reifel (bass), Wesley Fritzemeier (drums/mandolin/fiddle), and George Merkel (guitar), Ben Daniels Band’s live show never fails to take over the venue.

FREE EVENT

We are so happy to welcome them to the Island for Music in the Park!
