Mackinac Island Great Turtle Trail Run – Photos
This year marks the 23rd running of one of the most scenic trail events in the state. We have a capacity of 3,000 participants running and walking the inside trails of Mackinac Island during the last open weekend of the season.

Closing out a great family weekend on Mackinac Island! Growing up my dad ran the series of running races on the island every year and we would trek up as a family with our good friends the Cunningham’s and Gemmell’s - ten kids and three couples gallivanting around the island and cheering on our dads when they finished the race. This year we ran as a family, it was a beautiful day! Today also marked four months post stem cell transplant for my dad! I’m so proud of his strength and determination. Thank you dad for teaching me how to fight, hustle and live life to the very fullest! You are a true inspiration ❤️ #mackinacisland #greatturtlerun #familytime #fallcolortour

Results from yesterday’s Great Turtle! A road washout meant shorter course but more hills. The “dangerous hill” sign is actually at the start of the race. Nothing like torched quads in the first half mile. Lol! So much fun. My favorite race. Great medals, cool swag (fleece blankets this year). And a beautiful course. If you’re ever in northern Michigan in the fall, put this race on your radar. #greatturtletrailrun #greatturtlerun #runmackinacisland #runhappy #runmichigan #michiganrunner #mackinacisland #fallrunning

Another awesome race on #mackinacisland. It was carey86c and my second run on the island this year. After taking quite a break to nurse a hamstring injury, I was very pleased with the time I was able to put down. Naturally, carey86c finished ahead of me. One more run on the island this year to complete the tri-fecta. We will be back at the end of October for the #greatturtlerun #mackinacisle #bestrunteamever
