A lot of people will mention the wide white porch while others will tell you first about the swimming pool in the center of the hotel that is enclosed within a four-story atrium. We like that this hotel is directly across from the ferry docks, and in the midst of the bustling activity of Main Street, so that when one does enjoy the view from the porch they can feel a part of it all. The Lake View Hotel captures much of the past with its Victorian-style atmosphere and nineteenth-century vernacular resort architecture, including a modified hipped roof accenting an open, wood-columned porch and a raised basement. Lake View features Goodfellow’s Italian Chop House and Goodfellow’s Wings and Things.

Part 1: One year ago today this amazingly beautiful wedding took place and I still have the warmest memories of working with Caroline and chelseacrawforddesigns to create a work of art and bring her vision and dream wedding to life.
Caroline was a bride who knew exactly what she wanted in every single detail but also was very open to any suggestions and ideas that Chelsea and I had.
One of them being that I told her she just had to have a Lily Of The Valley bouquet… because truly there is nothing more elegant or timeless.

A custom wedding begins long before the wedding day.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing one of my favorite wedding projects from start to finish—a beautiful celebration at The Grand Hotel in Fairhope.
Every detail of this wedding began with a custom watercolor crest and monogram inspired by the couple and the blue-and-white vases featured throughout the weekend. Those elements carried through the invitation suite, floral envelope liner, bridal luncheon invitation, farewell brunch insert, and more.
I love when a wedding has a clear visual story from the very beginning, and this one certainly did.
Next week, I’ll share some of the custom watercolor artwork created for the wedding weekend.
