Get ready for another epic, fun-filled Halloween celebration this Saturday, October 27, 2018, on Mackinac Island. Enjoy all of the Halloween decorations throughout the island. Dress the kids up in their favorite costumes and take them downtown for trick-or-treating from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Saturday. And then put on your favorite costume for some adult Halloween fun Saturday night at the Pink Pony and other bars and restaurants on the island. This year marks the 23rd running of one of the most scenic trail events in the state. We have a capacity of 3,000 participants running and walking the inside trails of Mackinac Island during the last open weekend of the season.

Results from yesterday’s Great Turtle! A road washout meant shorter course but more hills. The “dangerous hill” sign is actually at the start of the race. Nothing like torched quads in the first half mile. Lol! So much fun. My favorite race. Great medals, cool swag (fleece blankets this year). And a beautiful course. What an amazing day! The weather held out for the race... no rain until I was all finished. Probably the toughest course I've ever run, so I'm super happy with my time... I'll take a 14 minute pace when the race director starts with 'there's a really steep hill right at the beginning, but don't let it scare you, there are lots more after that one'. Such a beautiful course! Oh, and that medal! I'm in love with that medal ♡

I spent a lot of time on the island this year, and it has been so fun and so meaningful. 🌸
I have done the 8-miler in the past and it’s a pretty easy and flat race. Lilac Run and Great Turtle were firsts for me and both had some serious climbing involved. 😵💫
Today was really challenging mentally. It was the most crowded race and super hilly, so it was hard to get into that blissful race flow. I also just had life on my mind. However, I’m glad I did it because I surprised myself.
I have done a LOT of challenging races this year. A 6-hour trail run, a hilly half…and I have found that I don’t care about time but rather the mental challenge of it all.
Going into next year, this will be more important than ever as I train for my biggest challenge yet! 😁

The 2014 Mackinac Island Lilac Festival starts on Friday, June 6, and goes through June 15. Some early lilacs are blooming, but look for the majority to blossom starting next week. In the meantime, here’s a view of some of the early summer flowers adding their color and beauty to June on Mackinac Island.

The 8th ANNUAL TURKEY TROT is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day!
This 5k event is not timed and you can run, walk, or bike your way from the corner of Main Street and Fort Street at 9:30 am to the finish at Mustang Lounge.
The entry fee is in the form of a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Mackinac County Food Bank.
Also, Star Line Ferry will transport off island folks wishing to participate for a donation of three non-perishable food items. Ferry will be leaving the mainland at 8:30 am and the island at 1:00 pm.
This annual Thanksgiving event is focused on fun and giving! It will be great to see you there!
