1969 through 1972 we lived in th UP at the Air Force Base during the Vietnam War. We used to go to the Grand Hotel for lunch when we had visitors. We were very young. 1980s we took our three sons to the UP and we went to the Grand Hotel.2009 our son proposed to his wife on the porch at the Grand Hotel. 2020 they went back to the Grand Hotel to celebrate their 10th anniversary.First time I went I was a little girl and there was no bridge connecting the lower peninsula to the UP. We took a ferry. I am 82. It has been a part of our lives. We lived in Ohio.We now live in Florida.
Celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary at Grand Hotel….❤️
Seeing the Grand Hotel in person was impressive! Staying there was awesome! Sitting down at this place setting for dinner was wonderful!
In the fall of 1980, we stayed on the island for our honeymoon, and had a dinner one night at the Grand, then we were hooked. Spring of 1981, we stayed two unforgettable nights. During the Lilac Festival in 2017 we booked the Anniversary package and had my heart almost pound out of my chest, when we opened our door to room 314. I cried when we walked in and looked out at the view, of eight windows overlooking the bridge. We felt so special, from the tea in the afternoon, to the private carriage tour. One of my favorite times, was sitting on the porch, relaxing and crocheting for hours, one afternoon. Thanks to the wonderful staff for keeping my iced tea full and providing snacks while allowing me to people watch, listening to the horses as they went by, all while enjoying the scenery of the round lighthouse, and the bridge. I think maybe it’s time to plan for another trip to the Grand next spring.
The Grand helped me recover from the loss of my late wife. It was our favorite place to vacation. After the funeral, I immediately went for a few days so the recovery would start. It helped so much!
Took the North American up from Chicago, summer ‘53 and stayed a week at the Grand Hotel. Wonderful experience! My grandparents had honeymooned there when it was brand new -
I love it only because of the movie, Some Where in Time.
Was there a few weeks ago for lunch. Loved finding the “Secret Garden.”
Just wrapped up a lovely weekend at The Grand. Our new favorite thing is sharing The Grand experience with our friends. This was the view from our room.

Fell in love with the hotel when I saw somewhere in time. Found the room Christopher Reeve stayed in in the movie. Stayed there once and went back again on a bus trip and had lunch there and shopped there. We stayed off island as I was on a bus trip.
My Wedding in the Tea Garden . Loved staying there. The food was also fabulous .
Getting one of the balcony rooms and saying “quick….mess it up before they realize they made a mistake!” 🥰😂
