Mackinac Island Great Turtle Trail Run β Photos
This year marks the 23rd running of one of the most scenic trail events in the state. We have a capacity of 3,000 participants running and walking the inside trails of Mackinac Island during the last open weekend of the season.

πͺ Today I completed a running goal that has been on my list for many years: The Mackinac Island Trio! πͺ»Lilac Run 10K π Mackinac 8-Miler π’ Great Turtle Trail Run (5.7 miles) I spent a lot of time on the island this year, and it has been so fun and so meaningful. πΈ I have done the 8-miler in the past and itβs a pretty easy and flat race. Lilac Run and Great Turtle were firsts for me and both had some serious climbing involved. π΅βπ« Today was really challenging mentally. It was the most crowded race and super hilly, so it was hard to get into that blissful race flow. I also just had life on my mind. However, Iβm glad I did it because I surprised myself. I have done a LOT of challenging races this year. A 6-hour trail run, a hilly halfβ¦and I have found that I donβt care about time but rather the mental challenge of it all. Going into next year, this will be more important than ever as I train for my biggest challenge yet! π #running #trailrunning #mackinacisland #runmackinac #10K #greatturtlerun #lilacrun #mackinac8miler #slowafrunclub #sisu

Closing out a great family weekend on Mackinac Island! Growing up my dad ran the series of running races on the island every year and we would trek up as a family with our good friends the Cunninghamβs and Gemmellβs - ten kids and three couples gallivanting around the island and cheering on our dads when they finished the race. This year we ran as a family, it was a beautiful day! Today also marked four months post stem cell transplant for my dad! Iβm so proud of his strength and determination. Thank you dad for teaching me how to fight, hustle and live life to the very fullest! You are a true inspiration β€οΈ #mackinacisland #greatturtlerun #familytime #fallcolortour

Half marathon β off of my bucket list thanks to these crazy PA school friends who love running (like how!?!) And our friend Jeannette along with spectators who cheered us on on a cold rainy windy day π§π¨π youβd think after a half you feel so achieved, but the reality is that my body ached so bad, my body was freezing cold and I barely could walk or smile for a medal picture π Mackinac Islandπ you were gorgeous. I hope I can return when itβs warm and sunny βοΈ and without the ππ½ββοΈpart. As much as I appreciated the nature, oh man how brutal you are Lake Michigan. You were so windy and I thought Iβd give up the last 3 mi, and as beautiful as you are I think I hated you at the endπ Although my joints hurt, muscles are sore, l still donβt like running, and Iβm so ready to retire from my short lasting running career, Iβd like to run a flat race so I can run faster. Why am I so competitive π so in conclusion, unlike what you see mostly on social media post run, this is how I think people really feel after a half π€·ββοΈ#mackinacisland #greatturtlerun #halfmarathon

I feel like a million bucks!! I went to runningfit_tcsouth today and got some new Brooks! Iβm an Asics girl but they were so comfortable!! The kids went biking and I pegged in a 2.5 mile run. Running is something I used to do everyday but I let it slip away. Came in 7th overall and 1st in my AG πΊπ» This was an awesome #run and I highly recommend it π Yes it was a bit cool (low 40s) with off and on π¦ but the course was VERY scenic and soo much fun to run through. Now to rest up ... I have another #race next week π±ππ¦ #runhappy #runnersofinstagram #runmichigan
