These are houseplants you can grow almost anywhere, with no need to worry about pets digging in the soil or nibbling the foliage. What a fun gift idea, too! They need just about an inch of water to live - simply replace the water every 1-2 months as needed. If it eventually outgrows the glass vessel, you can plant and grow it like a regular potted plant.

Sunrise over a new corner of a garden you might recognize from jackbarnwelldesign videos. I’m always interested to see what Jack does here because this corner is a real challenge. It’s planted along a sea wall where waves will crash over on occasion and in a very exposed area. This is coming right off an area that is protected and heavily planted with annuals so the other challenge is transitioning to a completing different situation in the same garden. there is nothing more nostalgic to me than heading up to mackinac island. this tiny island between michigan’s upper and lower peninsula is nothing but charm...mostly because it hasn’t been updated since 1985 and no motor vehicles are allowed on the island. yup! you can only get around by horse and buggies or by bike! i mean you could also walk but ehhh 😂 and no trip up to the island would be complete without grabbing as much of their world famous fudge as i can carry! what were some of your favorite vacation spots as a kid?

The 2017 Mackinac Island Lilac Festival wrapped up last Sunday with a magnificent Lilac Festival Grand Parade. It’s good to know there’s much more summer fun is ahead.
