Cloghaun is one of the oldest Victorian homes on Mackinac Island and has been lovingly preserved by the descendants of Thomas and Bridget Donnelly to offer guests a tranquil, romantic getaway. One of the most popular B & Bs on the island, Cloghaun Bed & Breakfast is known for it’s historic charm and lovely setting perched on a slope above Market Street.

Metivier Inn – Photos

Our next featured lodging photo album highlights the Metivier Inn, a historic Bed and Breakfast located on Market Street. The Metivier Inn offers 22 guest rooms tastefully decorated in a blend of English and French country style. In the morning guests are treated to a gourmet continental breakfast buffet. The spacious front porch is perfect for people watching. Guests can relax on the porch in the afternoon surrounded by some of the loveliest gardens on Mackinac Island and watch the horse carriages go by – clip-clopping – on Market Street below.

I wish I could afford to go back there. Better yet, I wish I could afford to move back or take a month or two to go back and drive around to the beautiful state of Pure Michigan. My birth state. There's a lot of places in Michigan i never been to I would love to visit. It's on my bucket list.

Lilacs and Early Summer Flowers on Mackinac Island – June 5, 2014

The 2014 Mackinac Island Lilac Festival starts on Friday, June 6, and goes through June 15. Some early lilacs are blooming, but look for the majority to blossom starting next week. In the meantime, here’s a view of some of the early summer flowers adding their color and beauty to June on Mackinac Island.
